RosterMaster StandAlone v5.1.0 is now available

RosterMaster StandAlone v5.1.0 is now available for download.  This is a required update, to accomodate changes SOE did in their data feeds.

Changes since v5.0.0:

  • FIXED: Updated data parser to match format changes SOE did to the REST data API on January 31st.
  • IMPROVED: When you enable Debug Mode (under Display Settings), if the XML query you send to SOE's server generates an error (for example if something was changed in the data feed structure), the error message generated by SOE's server will be emailed back to me.
If for some reason you want to use Verbose Errors and don't want the SOE servers to report back query errors to me, this can be edited in includes/urls.php - just set both $identifystring to "".
  • IMPROVED: Reduced the time window during which two roster updates might happen at the same time if two visitors hit the site when the local cache is stale.

Stop giving your money to Apple so they can hire lawyers

I seriously urge people to start boycotting Apple. The amount of patent-oriented lawsuits they aim at the competition is simply ridiculous. And as a "coincidence", it's aimed at the competitor who has the largest market share at the moment in terms of sold phones. This has gone beyond whether Samsung really infringed on some of these usually vague patents or not, it's a clear proof that Apple can't compete on a technical level anymore, so they resort to lawyers. Because good lawyers are easier to find than good engineers.

And I refuse to give any of my money to a company that will use that money to pay lawyers. Please, do the same.

What prompted this is yet ANOTHER salvo of lawsuits Apple is aiming at Samsung.  See here: http://www.reghardware.com/2012/01/17/apple_lawsuits_target_ten_smartpho...

RosterMaster StandAlone 5.0.0 is released

RosterMaster StandAlone v5.0.0 final has been released.  The highlight of this new major update is that it interfaces with new data feeds provided by SOE.  These new feeds provide a lot more data than the old data feeds did, and they should also be more reliable.  Over 30 different fields are available for you to chose from to customize your roster.  Those fields can be separated on up to 5 separate pages, so you can have a page dedicated to basic character information, and another page dedicated to combat-related attributes such as critical mitigation and resistances.

RosterMaster StandAlone 5.0.0 Beta 1 available!

After two weeks of intense work, I am excited to present RosterMaster StandAlone 5.0.0 Beta 1!  This version is definitely the biggest update in years, thanks in big part to SOE making some very detailled data feeds available for guild and roster data.  This new version offers over 30 different fields that can be displayed on your roster, and should update more regularily than their old half-broken XML/CSV feeds.

RosterMaster StandAlone 5.0 under development

Development has begun on RosterMaster StandAlone v5.0.  The biggest change in this version will be the switch to the new official data feeds now provided by SOE for their games.  Hopefully I should have something ready for release before the end of the year.

I will also be dropping some legacy features from this new version, in an attempt to make the code simpler to maintain (and test).  Support for PostgreSQL and flatfile storage is dropped - only MySQL will be supported from now.   Also, due to the new parser that I wrote to deal with the new data feeds, PHP 5 with SimpleXML support is also required.  If your server still runs on PHP4, do yourself a favour and upgrade - PHP 4 is no longer being maintained, and therefore will quickly become a security liability.

LOTRoster 1.5.0 is now available

I have just released a new version of LOTRoster.  This version handles the numerous stats changes from the recent LOTRO expansion, and increases the level cap to 75.

Note that due to the numerous field changes, you have to upgrade your database schema, by using the appropriate Upgrade link from the Configuration page.  You will also need to update your display templates to use the new field names, and remove the old ones.

Also, the Turbine data feeds have been half broken since September 27th.  Many characters return an error page, causing LOTRoster's update to fail.  There is unfortunately nothing I can do about this, you will have to put pressure on Turbine to fix this issue.  When I tried to contact their web dev, I was told to submit an in-game petition frown...  LOTRoster 1.5.0 should even report in its log which characters are failing (if you enable verbose logging).

UMSPProxy VM 1.0 for WDLXTV

I have built a Virtual Machine Appliance for VirtualBox, which can be used as a transcoding proxy for UMSP plugins that requires it (such as the Tou.tv plugin).

Due to the size, I have to host it on a download site (or else my hosting provider might hate me if I generate gigs of daily download traffic out of the blue :).  The file is hosted on Oron, from this link.

LOTRoster 1.4.1 is now available

This is just a minor bug fix.  Turbine's data feed can sometime return a "noCharacter" error when a requested character cannot be found, in addition to the usual "noCharacterData" which is returned for archived characters.  This would cause the whole update process to fail.  This new version makes LOTRoster handle both cases as inactive characters, so the roster update process will still complete successfully.

MiniDLNA-WDLXTV 1.6 now available

I have just released a new WDLXTV build of MiniDLNA.  This new release is based on MiniDLNA 1.0.21.

One important change in this version is that the ffmpeg libraries are no longer bundled with it.  You must also install the separate ffmpeg app.bin to provide those required libraries.
