Daughter of a stage magician, Zatanna quickly began a stage carreer of her own, using real magic to power her stage shows. Living in the Chicago area, Zatanna was the appointed Guardian of a Verbena Horizon realm.

She first studied under a Dreamspeaker, displaying skills in various areas of magic. At the same time a man named Mephisto was also studying under the Dreamspeaker's guidance. Soon a competition started to rise between the young apprentices, with Zatana always having the upper hand in the end. Mephisto eventually left, and was unheard of for a long time.

For a while she had a relationship with Jonathan Swift, from whom she gave birth to a girl, who was born with an unusual skill in Prime manipulation. For some unknown reason their relation eventually broke apart, probably about 5-10 years ago.

Zatanna then took young Tim Hunter under her wing as her apprentice, who had just run away from England, fleeing a wrecked father and looking for guidance as he couldn't find anyone able to help him progress further in his apprenticeship of magic. She then started tutor the young Verbena, teaching him into the ways of Spirits as well as Correspondance, intending to prepare him as the next Guardian.

However while Tim was away, Mephisto reappeared in her life. Having summoned a powerful demon, he sent it after her. Caught by surprise, Zatanna lost her life after what was a long struggle, and the house was totally destroyed.

Goals:

She was the appointed Guardian of a Verbena Horizon Realm, which was powered by a node located under the house she was living in.

She was also Tim Hunter's last mentor, intending to prepare him for the task of Guardian to replace her once she was gone.
