Samuelson is officialy from Norway.
A: He never set foot there, he lived his entire existence on a nameless horizon realm...
B: Nameless, as in unimportant?
A: No, nameless as a mean of protection against finding and attacking it. For the
moment lets call it NHR for simplification purpose.
B: Protection for or from... us or them?
A: This question carries its own answer like the Fifth Gate of the Hall of Justice. B: Why Norway then?
A: It as been decided that he live in the USA, so to help him blend in we gave him a
norwegian nationality. In case he did something,... strange..., He could simply
claim being from Norway. The technocratic controlled Americans are not known for the great and accurate
knowledge of the customs from the other contries. B: And now talking about blood link, whom are his parents? A: I am sorry, I am not allowed to tell you. I can only tell you that his father is
or was from Bonisagus and his mother is or was from Flambeau and...
B: IS OR WAS???
A: DOH!!!, hmm don't repeat it and try to forget.
B: Forget what? A: Nothing, I was talking to myself.
Samuel is the typical scholar of the Order of Hermes. The quiet type who usualy keeps to himself, he is always eager to dig through his Thorn book to gather information that is needed by the rest of his group. Having always led a quiet life, he somehow managed to keep his cool in the turmoil that surrounds him since he joined the group two years ago. Not much is known about his past, probably because not much happened in his past...
A: That's a good one! "probably because not much happened in his past..."
He has been the only person to go through the forbidden area of his NHR by
"playing" a ball game with a garou...
B: ?!?
A: Don't ask, I don't know the details either.
B: What was his childhood like?
A: One thing is sure, he loved to play in the BACKYARD of NHR...
B: backyard?
A: Just outside NHR.
B: Outside? how can it be?
A: Don't know, but it is there he got his awakening and his first lessons.
B: Who is his Mentor?
A: Mentor take a "s" in the plural form.
B: I beg you pardon?
A: He got his basis on runes for casting purposes by Odin and Freja while in
the backyard...
B: That mean NHR is in the vicinity of...
A: No, it is a wandering realm.
B: I bet it is in this backyard that he met her...
A: Perhaps... It is in this backyard that he got the majority of his training,
each time with different Mentors from whom we know nothing.
Don't be fooled by his calm look however. When in battle, his magical skills can prove
deadly, both to his opponents AND his friends. His skills are powerful, however
having more theorical than practical knowledge, he tends to fail the intended effect while
in dire situations. Paradox tends to float around him as reality just can't accept
his mere presence in this existence.
A: If it were this simple...
B: I am affraid to ask...
A: HE WARPS REALITY AROUND HIM!!!
B: Do you mean that he...
A: Only that in his case it takes decades of living in the same place to allow
warping, his bedroom has been lost to us. No one can enter or look inside.
B: What is wrong with that?
A: When the wooden door move like waves on water and emit very soft light almost
imperceptible that has a slight fear affect to those who can perceive it. Which
reminds me, anything new about,... his wife?
B: Nothing yet, sir.
Samuel used to live in a safehouse provided by his order. The house was filled with books and various elementals powering and protecting it. He and Horatio once asked their Order to send a specialist to translate an encrypted text they had recovered from Excavation X. Horatio's former apprentice (Desmani) stepped in, and took control of the safehouse, locking Horatio and Samuel out of it. The group then succeeded in taking back the safehouse, which was then destroyed.
Samuel eventually faced Desmani, but didn't attempt to capture or kill him. For this (and other
reasons) he was brought on trial by his Order, and eventually cleaned of any accusation.
B: In your opinion, is he a traitor?
A: No, his loyalty is above questioning. The problem is that he tend to judge
others after himself.
B: What about when he faced Desmani?
A: Via prudent NVC, I learned his reasons. When he saw Desmani, he saw a broken,
powerless man on death's door by cancer. He had no way to know by then that
Desmani had the pockets full of Talismans, artefacts, relics and items of power in
a show of reality grizzlism! Also, Desmani claimed that his Gilgul fractionned
his avatar into nine part now hosted by the nine kids. A Gilgul must be used only against an
avatar tainted beyond redemption. If it have been used rightly, how can it be that the kids
have not been sensed as tainted and if so, why have they not been destroyed? Unless of
course they are not tainted, that would then implie that Desmani was partially
right and has been Gilgulised for political reason. More frightening, would be
the implication of them being tainted. That would mean that they have been
sensed by tainted persons...
B: Master...
A: A shame really, these events and this court thing has steared him out of our
control.
B: Do you mean that...
A: About the kids? no, I don't think so. There are a few ways for redemption for a
fragmented one. But I know nothing about the kids.
B: Other than what we just discussed about Sam, what special about him, he is not
marked by destiny.
A: Even the weakest piece on a chess board can hold enough power to tip the
balance. If his studies lead him to the edge of the board of Reality, he could
come back with far more power. You see, Destiny does not always mark her
childs, sometimes she hides them and marks other to serve as bait.
B: Never underestimate anyone.
Goals:
Samuel's goal seem to be the same he's had for the last decades: to learn,
and survive amidst the turmoils of life.
B: Luckily for us.
A: I would not be so sure in your place.
B: ...
A: He does not seem to have goals or ambition of his own, but due to his conformist
nature he will make his Cabal's goals his very own. He is just like a loaded cannon,
he just need someone to point him in the good direction. Add to that that he is
open minded and mix with the fact that the others members of his Cabal of
Weirdos are as or more powerful than him and you get a big potential. Good or
bad, we can't judge!
